Who am I?

After a successful ten-year career in consultancy, I decided to shift direction and pursue my long-standing passion for supporting children and families with emotional and mental health needs. I now work as a secondary school counsellor across both mainstream and SEMH settings, supporting young people through adolescence.

Alongside this, I run a private practice offering a wide range of emotional and behavioural support for both parents and children, with a focus on practical, non-judgemental strategies that work in real life.

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental
Health from King’s College London and an MSc in Psychology from Portsmouth University, where my research focused on parenting styles and how they influence children’s online gaming behaviours. I am also an accredited Transformational Coach (ICF and AC) and currently working towards BACP counselling accreditation.

Giving back is central to my work. I volunteer as a counsellor with both Shout
UK and VLAD Outreach, supporting those who are marginalised or unable to access therapy. This has also given me the opportunity to work with adults facing a wide range of mental health challenges, and many of my private clients are non-parents seeking coaching to navigate life’s emotional complexities.

Most importantly, I’m a mother of three, so I understand the pressures of raising children in today’s fast-paced and uncertain world. This lived experience helps me support families with empathy and honesty. I truly feel privileged to do the work I do.

What is Coaching?

My Vision

Being mentally healthy during childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems. Mentally healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at home, in school, and in their communities. My vision is to support adolescents on this journey, help them develop the tools and skills to support their own mental health and wellbeing, throughout life.

Crisis Helpline

I also work as a crisis helpline volunteer for a large UK charity, here I offer frontline support to the most vulnerable, in need of critical mental health support, of all ages. This is a different level of support top coaching and therapy and I choose to do it because I am challenging myself on a different level and for me there is nothing more rewarding than being able to support people at the lowest depths of depression or anxiety and help save the lives of people on the verge of suicide or self-harm.

My Advice

If you are unsure what to look for in a coach, then my advice is to find someone that your child has a rapport with. You may find the most qualified or experienced coaches or therapists however, if your child does not connect with that person then it will likely limit the amount of progress your child will make. This is why I offer a non-obligation 20 minute introduction call, where you get to meet me and decide whether I am someone your child would be comfortable working with.

If you would like to find out more about how to start a coaching journey with me then please fill out the contact form and I’ll get in touch with more information about my fees and services. Looking forward to starting a coaching journey with you soon.

Best wishes, Sarb
